Omari Selemani with his mother after sight restoring surgery © Zul Mukhida / Sightsavers
Omari can see again this Easter
Omari faced a lifetime of blindness. Now he can see.
Eight year old Omari Selemani from Tanzania was born with cataract. Without help he faced permanent blindness. We were able to help Omari and a 30 minute cataract operation changed everything.
Without your help and this cataract operation, Omari might never again have seen his mother's loving smile. Omari can now read his school books, play with his friends, and face the future with confidence.
Omari said; 'When I go back home, I am going to go back to school and do really well'. These children just want to enjoy the basic right of an eduaction and to utilise that education to better their lives.
You have made this happen and as Easter is a time of new beginnings, you can save someones sight again and restore even more than that... their ability to attend school, play, take part in community life and have confidence once again!
Backgroud information on the clinic which operated on Omari:
Sightsavers funded the construction of the eye clinic and operating theatre, as well as training a cataract surgeon. Sightsavers also funds the costs of consumables and the training of other eye heath staff, including primary eye care workers. The well equipped operating theatre has the capacity for 20 patients per day.
Please help us to continue this life changing work by giving an Easter donation today!
