Junior Painter

Is your school bursting with talent?

The Junior Painter of the year Awards take the form of a painting competition open to all primary school children in Ireland. The competition gives Irish children a great opportunity to express their creativity and to understand the importance of sight to both themselves and others.

The theme for the 2009 Junior Painter competition was "The sight I would most like to see", and we had over 2,400 entries from children from all around the country. The winners were chosen by Niamh Sharkey, children's writer and illustrator and Aidan Dunne, art critic from the Irish Times. After much heated debate they finally agreed upon 12 regional winners and 3 commendation winners and the winning paintings were on display at an exhibition in Airfield in Dundrum in February.

Each of these winners received prizes from Eason and Airfield and the 4 overall national winners received Eason gift certificates worth €300 each.
