Swimming for Sightsavers!

Gavin Murphy swimming in the freezing water

Aravon School Groundskeeper Christy O'Toole, along with his friends and family, braced the cold weather and took the plunge at the Bray school's swimming pool in early January. This was the twelfth year of the swim which Christy started to raise money for Sightsavers. He has been an avid supporter of ours since 1988 and we're so grateful for all his support over the years. Thank Christy!

Women supporting women

Niamh Wallace and members of the Inner Wheel Organisation

The Inner Wheel Organisation chose Sightsavers, as their international charity for their annual collection to promote Women & Blindness.

Niamh Wallace of the Inner Wheel says ‘With 30 million women suffering from blindness or sight problems it seems only right that a wholly female organisation get behind this campaign’.

The organization raised €345 for Sightsavers and is a real example of women getting involved and reaching out to other women in need.

Focusing on Sightsavers

Rene Bruun

Photographer Rene Bruun sold prints on his website during the month of August with all proceeds going to Sightavers. Rene also completed a twenty-four hour fast, collected money at work and is planning to hold a draw in aid of Sightsavers.

'As a photographer my sight is very important to me. When I saw a commercial for Sightsavers I realised that I could help others. The gift of sight is probably the best thing you could ever give someone.'
