Mungu from Kenya is 13 and was born blind. She attends Kamurasi Inclusive School in Masindi District. She has lots of friends and enjoys learning, as well as running and singing.
Schools
As part of our work, Sightsavers encourage schools to learn more about sight related issues in the classroom. We want to engage children with Sightsavers in a fun, age-appropriate and sight relevant way to raise awareness of what Sightsavers do and to help them understand what it might be like for children who are blind in the developing world.
We have produced a selection of materials for use in lessons, including teaching resources, alphabet Braille cards and activity packs for pupils all about eye care around the world.
- I-Care Activity Pack - this A6 activity booklet can be given to pupils as a fun follow up when they've been learning all about the senses or blindness. Inside the booklet pupils can help the eye doctor get through the maze to the eye hospital, create their own i:care character, do an eye care word search, cut out their own pair of groovy glasses and learn a bit more about the different ways Sightsavers saves sight!
