Standard Chartered

This year marks the tenth anniversary of Sightsavers' relationship with Standard Chartered. In 2003 they launched a global community investment programme, Seeing is Believing, choosing Sightsavers to be one of its partners. Through Seeing is Believing, Standard Chartered has raised over $37 million in support of eye care programmes and we are proud to be a key, long-term partner of this initiative.

To date, Seeing is Believing has supported Sightsavers' work in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Zambia, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, improving the lives of over 31 million people living in some of the world’s poorest countries.

However, shockingly there are still 39 million people in the world who are blind and many hundreds of millions more live at risk of blindness. To address this, Standard Chartered has expanded its commitment to raise $100 million by 2020. As part of this commitment, Seeing is Believing generously matched all donations made to the Financial Times Seasonal Appeal in 2011, doubling the impact of donations made.
