Sightsavers’ UK gender pay gap

Find the latest information about the difference in pay between our female and male staff.

In December 2025, the difference in mean pay* between male and female employees was 0.69% in favour of men.

During the period, the difference in median pay** between male and female employees was 0.08% in favour of men.

Women account for about two thirds of our UK staff across all salary levels, including the 25% highest earners.

As of December 2025, 71% of Sightsavers’ total workforce in the UK are women.

Details about Sightsavers’ gender pay gap

The gender pay gap at Sightsavers is substantially lower than the national average each year and the fluctuations are very small.

There have been small changes in recent years. The mean difference in 2024 was 1.89% in favour of men. In 2023, it was 3.13% in favour of men, and in 2022 it was 3.17% in favour of men.

The median difference in 2024 was 1.56% in favour of men. In 2023 it was 3.06% in favour of men, and in 2022 it was 3.27% in favour of men.

*The mean salary is the average of all salaries, and is calculated by adding up all salaries and dividing them by the total number of salaries.

**The median salary is calculated by adding together the salaries of everyone working in an occupation and then dividing the total by the number of people.

What is the
‘gender pay gap?’

The gender pay gap measures the average difference in earnings between men and women. All UK employers with more than 250 staff must publish this data every year, as required by law.

The aim is to drive progress towards workplace equality, increase transparency and allow comparisons between employers.
