Over the past two years, our supporters have helped us to provide more than 513 million treatments worldwide to protect eyesight, and more than 7.7 million sight-restoring cataract operations.
All our programmes are well established and are fully costed and recorded. And because we help to train eye care workers and surgeons, and support them to carry out eye operations and sight-saving treatments on such a scale, we are able to deliver real and lasting change in the communities where we work.

Frequently asked questions
If I have a will already, how do I add to it?
Additions to your will can be made using a separate document called a codicil, which must be signed and witnessed. It must be kept with the will but not attached to it. Giving to a cause that you wish to support, such as Sightsavers, can be done by adding a codicil to an existing will.
What kind of gift should I leave?
We understand your family are your first priority, so any size gift you choose to leave us, no matter large or small, will make a difference and will be hugely appreciated. You can nominate a gift of a specific sum called a pecuniary. You can also leave a residuary gift – a portion of your estate that hasn’t been promised to family or friends. You can also select to give a specific item of value, such as stocks, shares, jewellery, property, the proceeds of a life assurance policy or other valuable items.
What details do I need to provide to include a gift to Sightsavers in my will?
When including a legacy to charity, it’s important to specify the charity’s registered name, charity number and address. These are:

Are there tax benefits to leaving a gift to Sightsavers?
Any gift you leave to a charity will be tax free. Everything you leave to family or friends above the tax threshold incurs an inheritance tax of 33%.
How can my gift help?
A donation in your will could help a child like Riya from Patna in India, one of the poorest states in the country. Riya struggled to see the blackboard in her classroom, putting her future at risk.
Thanks to a Sightsavers-funded eye screening programme at her primary school, Riya was provided with a pair of glasses to correct her vision, enabling her to continue her education.
Over the past two years, Sightsavers has helped to provide more than 750,000 pairs of glasses to children like Riya.
