Run the Dublin Marathon for Sightsavers Ireland

Set your sights on storming the streets of Dublin on 26 October 2025. Every kilometre you take will help change lives and save sight.

When it comes to charity challenges, the marathon consistently proves to be one of the most popular.

Every year, some 22,000 runners cross the Dublin Marathon start line as they embark on the 42km course, which proceeds in an anti-clockwise direction around the city, starting at Fitzwilliam Square and ending at Merrion Square.

It’s not just for elite athletes, either: every year, thousands of first-time runners are cheered round the course and over the finish line by crowds of supporters who line the route. The atmosphere is euphoric, emotional and never to be forgotten.

How to apply

1. Sightsavers charity place

Sightsavers has a limited number of charity places for this year, 2025.

  • Charity places are strictly limited. We ask our runners to each fundraise a minimum of €1,000: as a charity, we rely on runners to meet their pledge.
  • If you’re offered a charity place, we will notify you in advance.
  • We will register you with the organisers: you will then need to complete the registration and pay the €75 fee to secure your place.

2. Public ballot

The public ballot takes place a year in advance: entry usually closes in October. If you secure a place through the ballot, we’d love you to fundraise for Sightsavers: email [email protected] for details.
